Welcoming a new building

The much needed building to house 40 orphaned, abandoned, abused, traumatized, vulnerable and HIV positive boys is finally here.

Friday, 4th March 2016, New Jerusalem Children’s Home celebrated the construction commencement of a much needed building. A residential unit which will be housing 40 orphaned, abandoned, abused, traumatized, vulnerable and HIV positive children in its care who are currently not adequately sheltered in a dormitory housing style, sleeping on bunk beds with no privacy or space for anything else in the room.

Boy’s Residential Unit is one of the much needed building for the home. The project was approved by the Chairman of the organisation after it was presented to Board of Directors by the CEO and Founder Mme Anna Mojapelo. In her presentation then she mentioned psychological impact on children (boys) should the home continue sheltering them in the current state. The event saw joy, happiness and appreciation from children of the home to the appointed contractor who interacted with them before the silver spade in the CEO’s hands touched the ground – officially allowing the constructor to start with mass ground work and building on Monday, 7 March 2016.

“I am at peace, happy and I can only thank all men and women who answered our call for support and many who will be answering our request for sponsorship and donations towards completion of this building,” said Mme Anna Mojapelo CEO of New Jerusalem Children’s Home, with happy tone as she was surround by children and members of the organisation. Mr Wicus of Alpha Construction expressed his joy by saying “this is a total different atmosphere – seeing all these happy children gives me joy and wakens my greatest building passion and touches my heart differently, I will be building a structure for these children, I will be giving them a home all men and women will be proud of, more those who will be making donations/sponsorship and social investments towards this home.” Said Mr Wicus – the constructor.

The new boy’s residential unit will have bedrooms to house 40 boys and 2 house parents, have sick rooms for the home, give boys a home work and study areas to address children’s educational care and cater for child entertainment with a TV and lounge room. The 556 square meter building is expected to be officially opened on 9 August 2016. New Jerusalem Children’s Home is calling for help from all men and women – corporates and individuals to please assist with sponsorships or donations towards this building. The organisation is asking for your support with any of the building material be it cements, stock bricks, building/plaster sand, door/window frames, roof trusses and sheeting, celling, electrical components, plumbing supplies the list is endless as far as the construction of this structure is concerned.
