Core activities and services rendered at New Jerusalem Children’s Home are:

New Jerusalem Children’s Home believe in an active mind of a child in social acceptable aftercare actives.

We have set a permanent aftercare programmes for children; programmes range from sports, arts and culture including hand creative work.

Amongst our programs we have:

  • Indigenous games
  • Soccer
  • Netball
  • Birthday celebrations
  • Music, dance and poetry
  • Indoor games
  • Painting

New Jerusalem Children’s Home has been championing rights of children for the past 15 years, we are learning and leading our work in providing services in:

  • Provision of 24 hour residential care and support for orphans and vulnerable children
  • Life Skills Training ( environmental Management, Baking and perma culture/gardening)
  • Facilitation of Hosting, reunification and foster care placements
  • Educational Program (mainstream education, early learning development and Aftercare Teaching)
  • Celebration of National and International days of importance, the likes of Mandela Day, Child Protection Week, etc
  • Provides training on personal and social skills of living through Developmental Group Work.
  • Management of children’s health needs. Immunisation clinic and hospital/clinic visits
  • Spiritual Guidance through attending church and religious seminars.
  • Provision of individual counseling or therapy by the social worker
  • IDP assessments and formulation of care plans
  • Therapeutic Group Work
  • Referrals to other therapists if need be.

Being an NGO and a public benefit organization we have been playing our part in communities surrounding us.

Our children have been actively involved in parating in community programs aiming to build their morals and acceptance of the world around them irrespective of their daily life challenges, they have been part of:

  • Community cleaning projects
  • Social debates in youth redirection
  • Home cleaning programs

Child admission Requirements

  • A child should between 0 and 12 years old
  • Background report from the statutory social worker placing the child
  • Copy of birth certificate/age estimation form/medical report(Form 7)
  • Court order or Form 36 (if it’s an urgent removal)
  • Immunisation card
  • Medication of the child if any
  • School report and transfer card (if child was in school)
  • Working agreement between the statutory social worker and the residential social worker)
  • Panel discussion between statutory social worker and residential social worker and any other
  • people relevant before placement. Preadmission interview
