Bricks sponsored by XL Sandown Travel on the 21 September 2016 to New Jerusalem Children’s Home for the building of boy’s residential unit

The morning of 21 September 2016 New Jerusalem Children’s Home celebrated the first load of 2 000 bricks donated by Sandown Travel. The bricks come after a call made by the CEO of the home – Mme Anna Mojapelo for support for a total of 290 000 cement stock bricks. Sandown Travel responded to the call, donating a total of 2 000 cement stock brick which will be used on the 4th October 2016, this will be a day when the construction work, phase two of the building work, of the boy’s residential unit takes off from the current slab phase, which was completed in May 2016.

New Jerusalem Children’s Home has a deeper and an emotional need to expand its home, to build a 556 square meter building which will be used to adequately shelter boys of the home who are currently sleeping in an overcrowded old double garage, a room with no bathrooms, showers or even a space between the beds for children and youth to play indoors, which was converted into a dormitory to address the residential needs, for the socially and medically challenged children and youth brought to us. During the Mandela Day period we requested support from all men and women to assist us with building material for this building, Sandown Travel is one of the companies which responded with the bricks. The travel tour agency brought the number of the total needed cement stock bricks from 290 000 to 286 000.

The road is still long from where am standing, path – a bit unclear. We still have a great need for the building materials – the doughnut is still a bit big, it needs you to please join us on the table. Children of the haven started playing on top of the completed slab, this seems to us like they have lost hope, it seems they don’t see themselves getting their residential unit on the 16 December 2016 as we had wished for them to walk into their new house. The smile Sandown Travel brought to my face has brought light to me, part of me convinced that our children, on return from school, will see the reality of their wish, we believe they will smile when they see the bricks brought by Sandown Travel – we believe this will not only give them hope but will also encourage many men and women – corporates and organisations to assist us with building material towards this much needed structure, said Nana Pheto – NJCH Centre Manager, we are thankful to Sandown Travel for their heartfelt donation of bricks and for always being by our side – she added.

“Finally – they landed where they belong and soon they will be even more permanent in their new home as the cement keeps them together to provide a new home for the boys” Bev said with a smile on her face. New Jerusalem Children Children’s Home has a higher purpose, caring for the socially and medical disadvantaged children and youth is a calling and New Jerusalem Children’s Home is answering to this call very well. Sandown Travel would have loved to do more than 2000 cement stock bricks. We would like to ask you to please put in your hand toward the building of the this much needed structure – a better roof over the boy’s head, added Bev Henderson – Corporate Travel Manager.

New Jerusalem Children’s Home would like to call upon all men and women to please assist with the sponsorship/donation of the building material or financial support towards the building material of the boy’s residential unit. Construction work will be resuming on the 4th October 2016, the key material needed for the 4th October 2016 are 286 000 cement stock bricks, 40 cubic of building sand, 33 door frames and 57 windows (sizes and quotations are available on request). Attaining of this building material will mark the completion of phase two of the boy’s residential unit.
